Following a review by Tintagel Carnival committee members, it is with much regret and sadness that we must announce that the Carnival Week and parade will not be taking place this year (scheduled for 31st July to 7th August)
We have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic over the past few weeks, and it has become increasingly evident (as in 2020) that is not possible to run the Tintagel Carnival again this year. The safety and wellbeing of our community, visitors and participants is always our primary concern.
Despite the Prime Minister’s recent speech, and the roadmap to ease Covid-19 Restrictions, the ongoing problem the Carnival Committee face is that of the uncertainty as to what statutory Covid restrictions could/will still be in place in July/August for large scale events like the Carnival as the timeline of the roadmap cannot be guaranteed. Sadly, the risk is simply too great for us to run this year, it would be an enormous health & safety, operational and financial gamble, which we cannot justify.
We offer our sincere apologies to all involved, and we can assure you that Tintagel Carnival Committee are equally as disheartened and disappointed.
We are still hoping to have some activities for participation during the school holidays, including a treasure hunt, shop window competition and the scarecrow competition, which we started last year and was a huge success.
We also look forward to starting up again our fundraising events and seeing you all again soon. Please look out for updates
