New Council Elected Uncontested

December 18th 2025

Following the deadline for candidates to come forward to fill the 11 councillor vacancies, Cornwall Council have confirmed that they received 10 valid nominations. You can view the notice of the uncontested election here. This means that the planned ballot on 29th January 2026 will no longer go ahead, and the 10 candidates will be elected uncontested.

This also means that the new councillors will be able to take up office sooner than anticipated, and will be able to meet in January. There is therefore no longer a need for a temporary, appointed, council and so it will not be installed as originally planned. Given that there remains no staff at the Parish Council, the 10 successful candidates are encouraged to contact CALC (enquiries@cornwallalc.org.uk), who are providing support in the meantime, so that necessary paperwork can be completed and a date set for a Full Council meeting in January (now happening on the 19th January – see here.)

The remaining vacancy on the council will be treated as a casual vacancy, meaning that the new council will make arrangements for this to be filled via co-option in due course. When this occurs it will be widely publicised.
